Thursday 21 June:

– Natural reserve with forest, cliffs and waterfall located on the eastern part of Siljan Ring, Europe’s largest known impact crater with a diameter of 52 km. As a result the general area is rich on fossils from the Cambrian to Silurian periods.
11:30 – 11:50 Travel to Rättvik
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch + Check in
13:00 – 13:45 Travel to Mora
Zorn Collections (homepage)
– Zorn was a swedish painter, sculpture and collector. He is most famous for his portraits of members of the contemporary elite but he also did paintings of the peasants and had an interest in their traditions and way of life. So much that other than the museum and his home, the modern Zorn collections also consists of 40 buildings from 13th to the 18th century that he collected throughout his years.

Midsummer in Sammilsdal, Leksand
– Biggest midsummer celebration in Dalarna. The pole is rowed in by boat, raised and danced around. Later in the evening folk musicians play in various churches.

– Guided tour in Carl and Karin Larsson’s residence in Sundborn. Once known as the most famous home in Sweden thanks to the immense impact the works by them had in shaping the national identity during the national romanticism.
Falun Mine (homepage)
– With it’s 1000 year history it has been vital in making Falun the economic centre of Dalarna. During it’s prime it produced two thirds of the worlds copper. In 1687 a big part of the mine collapsed creating an almost 100 meter deep crater, killing no one. Mining ended in 1992 and nowadays guided tours makes it possible to explore it.
– A valley with the spring Borlänge takes it’s drink water from.
